Favorite Authors to Take to the Beach
It's late July, but summer isn't over just yet. There's still time for the beach, and there's still time to read some great books. Today I'm sharing my favorite auto-buy authors to refill your beach bag.
These authors are tried, true favorites and perfect to take to the beach or your local pool. I've read almost all of their books and they don't disappoint.
My favorite: Daisy Jones & the Six
Taylor Jenkins Reid has become a one-woman industry of books you want to sink into - deep, character-driven stories of Golden Age movie stars, '70s rock sirens, and '80s surf goddesses. Her new book, Carrie Soto Is Back, comes out on August 30th and is already in my Amazon cart.
There is no wrong choice regarding which book to read from TJR; her early books are just as excellent as her newer ones.
My favorite: Mrs. Everything
Jennifer Weiner is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of nineteen books, including That Summer, Big Summer, Mrs. Everything, In Her Shoes, and Good in Bed. Named the queen of "chick lit" and the "beach reads," don't let these nicknames fool you. Many of the heroines in her novels feel like people we all know, fighting to accept their own flaws. But her stories are layered and complex, with interesting characters and timely topics. You'll love all of her books if you enjoy stories of love, friendship, family, and self-discovery.
My favorite: The Great Alone
Kristin Hannah is an award-winning and bestselling author, perhaps best known for The Nightingale and Firefly Lane, the latter of which has become a hit Netflix show. Her writing spans multiple genres and includes works of historical fiction, coming-of-age stories, family sagas, and women's domestic life fiction. You are bound to find several favorites.
My favorite: The Husband's Secret
Liane Moriarty is the author behind the bestsellers turned into television hits Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. Her characters are sharp, witty, and complex; Moriarty's gift is her ability to make the characters seem like your friends, your sisters, and your neighbors. Her books are quick page-turning reads with unexpected twists.
Don't wait because August is just around the corner. Grab one of these books to toss in your bag before the summer ends.
