4 Simple Ways To Bring Fall Into Your Morning Routine

As fall begins, we trade summer's light and lazy days for a packed school year schedule. We have to set the alarms, pack lunches, and adjust to the busier schedules. This change can be a shock to even the most organized person. That's why revisiting your morning routine this Autumn is so essential.

If you've been around here for a while, you might have noticed that I love routines. I've written about my morning routine and skincare routine a few times here on WTDB. One of the reasons I love a routine is because it takes away any guesswork.

As fall is the season for the senses, I've added a few cozy vibes to my routine to make the transition from summer to fall a little easier.

Make Your Space Your Sanctuary

Aesthetics can affect our emotions and the way we feel about ourselves and other people. Studies show that we perceive up to 80% of our impressions through sight. So this fall, revamp your morning space to create a cozy and safe aesthetic.

This year, I'm adding some deep browns, tans, and terracotta-colored accessories to my home office area. These colors give a subtle nod to the change in season and add a calming feel to the space. I'm bringing in these colors with candles, flower pots, and other accessories.

Add Some Aroma

Say goodbye to the ocean spray and tropical coconut scents and hello to notes like cinnamon, amber, leather, and incense. Many of these scents are hardwired into our memories, making fall a feeling and a season.

One of my morning rituals is lighting my candle or filling my diffuser. I like my scents to do double duty by making the house smell great and helping wake me up or establish a calm feeling. I'm using Aura Cacia Frankincense Essential Oil in my diffuser this fall. Emotionally, Frankincense Essential Oil can be spiritually grounding, calming, and relaxing without being sedating. The aroma is earthy and has a slightly fruity/sweet, warm, spicy attitude. Just a few drops in the diffuser gets me awake and grounded.

This fall, I'm also using Release Essential Oil Blend on my wrists, sides of the neck, and temples. The Amethyst crystal eases pains while the relaxing scents of lavender, bergamot, and frankincense dispel anxiety and worry. It's a great way to start your day.

Sweet & Savory Morning

It's officially Autumn, and pumpkin spice lattes are flowing in all the coffee shops, so it's time to change up your morning beverage at home. I'm a big fan of switching up my mugs as the season's change; drinking from a cute fall mug always brightens my mood. Adding flavored cream to your regular coffee or tea is another way to get all the pumpkin taste. Add some new coffee and tea flavors to your beverage area, and you'll be ready to kick off the season.

Autumn Affirmations

Autumn is a time for recalibration, balance, and self-care. Beautiful sunny days gradually turn to shorter, darker days reminding us that change is the only constant. Autumn affirmations can help you during this transitional time. As with any transition or change, there can be challenges; setting a goal for the month or having daily affirmations are ways to stay balanced and keep a positive perspective.

If you are new to affirmations, check out my earlier post to learn more. During Autumn, my affirmations will focus on self-compassion and balance.

I hope these simple additions to your morning routine will make the transition from summer to fall as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
